I am filling my first guitar. I am practicing on the back which is mahogany. Here's the deal: DAY1 - I painted the filler on, let it sit for 5 minutes, and squeegeed it off. DAY2 - Sanded with 320, painted another coat of filler on, let it sit for 5 minutes, and squeegeed it off. DAY3 - Sanded with 320. I still have areas that are not filled. Here's the question......Does filled mean that the grain is filled 100%? If I drag my finger nail across the areas, I can feel that the grain is still there and only slightly filled. NOTE: I previously tried to fill this with pumice, alcohol, and shellac. So, most of the back was already filled. Has anyone used this product? If so, what am I missing? Thanks, Doug Ubele |

How are you squeegeeing it off? How hard you pushing? I found 3 applications gave me an almost perfect fill on EIR back and side (a few pin-pores remained that I didn't notice until it was too late), and the residue dried easily. Paint on, squeegee off at 45 degrees to the grain, ish, just enough pressure to wipe off the excess, then sand any remaining drippy bits, and repeat the process. Did take a good 3-4 applications, to the tune of 2 per day, to get it done. Hasn't shrunk since then (going on 7 months) |

I am squeegeeing fairly hard. I also go over the same area several times. I do this so I don't have to sand as much. I'll try with lighter pressure. Thanks Mattia, Doug Ubele |
